Hey all! If you follow me on Facebook or here at the blog you know that my community was recently and devastatingly affected by Hurricane Sandy. My family was one of the lucky ones - just out of electricity for nine days. It was dark, it was cold, we had to throw away a *lot* of food, gas was incredibly hard to get. After having spent two days prepping for the storm and nine days without power, I'm finally again living with electricity, clean clothes and heat. I'm not a big watching of daytime television. I try to hit the local morning news (my husband works behind the scenes, so it's more than just the news for me), but TV during the day just has never been my thing. So I'm gearing up for my very first actual vending event this Saturday at Central NJ Pagan Pride (where I'll also be doing a free workshop on poppet magic!). I've been sewing and spelling a variety of poppets, cat toys and pocket charms for this event for weeks. Yesterday I got them all bagged and tagged. Today's goal? On Monday I posted what I thought was a simple blog post about supporting Pagan women who veil - and all women who choose to do so by choice, no matter what their religious affiliation. To say that some folks responded in a less than supportive way would be an understatement.
